Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This is a skilled and semi-skilled manual labor position, responsible for the maintenance of City’s central
beach trail and beach facilities including Gulf Front Park, Sunset Vista Park and Beach Pavilion and other
grounds and facilities involving semi-skilled duties in maintenance and construction in the use and
operation of tools and equipment. Work is performed under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Mowing, edging, raking, weeding, planting, trimming, and cleaning of beach facilities, central
beach trail, parks, roadway greenery and open space areas.
• Maintenance of Central Beach Trail to include daily maintenance of sidewalk surface, sand wall,
cigarette dispensers, debris and trash removal.
• Daily maintenance of beach mobi mat
• Daily maintenance of city dog park
• Provides on-going maintenance of beach trail to include light fixtures and light bulb removal;
educational signs; benches and trash cans; etc.
• Inspects and performs daily maintenance and cleaning of all public beach facilities and parks
including dog park which include drinking fountains, showers and restrooms.
• Responsible for minor building maintenance such as painting, plumbing, and other and semiskilled trades.
• Maintains and adjusts specialized equipment and tools, including electric motors, pumps,
sprinklers, tractors, mowers, irrigation systems.
• Uses and operates tools and equipment related to maintenance and repair. Responsible for the
cleaning, maintenance and minor repairs of tools and equipment.
• Collect and dispose of solid waste from buildings and grounds; picks up litter from premises.
• Responsible for opening and closing; locking and unlocking facilities as directed.
• Assists in setting up and taking down equipment for various community events, functions and
programs.
• Prepares equipment and immediate area for community events and programs and facility rentals.
