GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This is a responsible position involving the maintenance of the City’s infrastructure and services. Utilize the
tools and equipment to perform general diagnostic, maintenance and repair to waste systems including,
but not limited to grease interceptors, storm water management facilities, oil/sand interceptors, and sewer
lines. Field supervises skilled and semi-skilled Service Workers. This position reports to the Division Crew Chief.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Responsible for optimizing maintenance practices to affect the most efficient and economical
utilization of facilities, personnel and equipment.
• Responsible for maintaining the City owned wastewater and stormwater collection systems.
• Administers the construction and maintenance of their respective divisions.
• Assists Crew Chief with managing project scope and deliverables to ensure that the City’s objectives
are accomplished.
• Responsible for personal safety and the safety all field crew members under supervision.
• Working knowledge and understanding of waste systems including but not limited to grease
interceptors, storm water management facilities, oil/sand interceptors and sewer lines.
• Ability to drive, lift and operate heavy tools and equipment.
• Ability to supervise and direct an apprentice or another vacuum truck operator.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Responsible for the maintenance and routine inspection of all equipment, tools and vehicles in the
division.
• Drives trucks and operates equipment of various sizes and weights.
• Assists in maintaining maintenance and operation records.
• Performs related work as required.
