Position Summary
The Label Rewinder Operator is responsible for inspecting, rewinding, and finishing printed label rolls to meet customer specifications and quality standards. This role ensures labels are properly slit, counted, inspected, and packaged for shipment while maintaining efficiency and accuracy in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate label rewinding and inspection equipment to convert large printed rolls into finished rolls according to customer requirements.
• Inspect labels for print quality, registration, color consistency, and die-cut accuracy.
• Detect and remove defective labels, ensuring only quality product is packaged.
• Set up rewinder machines, including roll tension, web alignment, and counter settings.
• Verify label counts, core sizes, and roll diameters match job specifications.
• Enter finihsed roll information to generate packing and shipping paperwork
• Maintain accurate production and quality records, including inspection and waste reports.
• Assist in troubleshooting and routine maintenance of rewinding equipment.
• Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Collaborate with press operators, quality control, and shipping departments to meet production schedules.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and report mechanical or quality issues promptly.
Qualifications
Required:
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• 1+ year experience operating finishing, rewinding, or slitting equipment in a printing or manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Basic computer literacy for data entry and job tracking.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, production tickets, and measurement tools.
• Good mechanical aptitude and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
Preferred:
• Experience in narrow web flexographic printing or label converting.
